Their pastries are a work of art! I came here everyday I was in Port Angeles. They have a spinach, goat cheese and roasted garlic "roll" that lives in my dreams. I'm not much for sweets and this gem has plenty to offer savory folks. The carrot cake muffin was delicious as was everything we had.
Get the fennel chai! It's ruined all other chai for me. All the pastries, savory and sweet, were perfect (not just because we ate them staring at Hurricane Ridge). The service was friendly and kind.
I’ve been coming to Buena Luz for quite some time now, and I can honestly say I’ve never gone wrong trying any of their products. They make one of the best cortados in town, which is why I keep coming back for my daily dose. Their menu is very varied, and they always have different bakery items along with a hot bakery/breakfast case full of great options. Emily and the team are so attentive — they truly make you feel like family.

I first heard the legends of the Buena Luz Bakery Café while camping down in Futaleufú, Chile. I camped at the campground owned by the same folks who run this bakery. David gave me a Buena Luz Bakery sticker which reminded me to visit someday… … multiple years later I finally found my way here. Their large gluten free carrot cake muffin with cream cheese frosting is absolutely divine… just as the barista promised, so scrumptious you can’t tell the difference from traditional wheat based carrot cake. They make a mean Mexican mocha & their full coffee menu offers something for everyone. ¡Gracias a la gente de Buena Luz! Nos vemos entonces :)
Excellent service, very welcoming, great coffee and pastry’s that were still warm. In this part of WA it can be a bit more “conservative.” It was refreshing to see “everyone is welcome” symbols on the walls. Thank you for being inclusive!
It felt pretty safe to assume this bakery was going to deliver the moment we walked in... but assumptions can be dangerous. Thankfully, this one proved correct, and then some. Wow. We loved everything about our experience here. The pastries were fantastic, the breakfast sammies hit the spot, and somehow the smell of fresh bread made the whole morning feel better. Friendly service, incredible baked goods, and the kind of place that makes you immediately start planning your next visit.
Absolutely great bakery with some delicious offering. The coffee cakes, cinnamon rolls, and fresh bread were amazing. We enjoyed them so much we returned the next day for more to take for our travels. Some items are so good they are in high demand so get there early so you don’t miss out. They also offer fresh made sandwiches, great for hitting a hike and take with you.
I would consider this a definite stop Port Angeles. Such an amazing bakery!! The food and the vibes are great! I loved the chocolate chip banana bread, the biscotti and the chocolate cookie. All of their pastries and savory items looked amazing too.
Buena Luz Bakery in Port Angeles is an absolute gem and the perfect stop before a day of exploring Olympic National Park. We stopped in a few days before Thanksgiving for coffee and breakfast pastries ahead of a rainy day of hiking, and it couldn’t have been a better choice. The moment you walk in, it smells incredible, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. There were plenty of helpful employees, all of whom seemed genuinely happy to be there, which made the experience even better. The selection of breads and pastries is impressive, and everything is beyond fresh. Our breakfast biscuit was still warm when we got it, which was a great start to the day. The marionberry biscuit and the ham and cheddar biscuit roll are absolute must-orders. Both were dense, hearty, and incredibly filling, exactly what you want before a long hike. We walked out full, energized, and well-fueled for the trail. All the best to this wonderful bakery, we will definitely be back the next time we’re in the area.
